They say good things come in threes and the new i’coo Grow With Me 1-2-3 is no exception. This product uses one frame, with attachments converting it from a bassinet to a bouncer or highchair as your baby’s needs change.

i’coo is part of the Hauck group, and is the company’s more luxurious range. The i’coo Grow With Me 1-2-3 is based on an ultra-light aluminium frame, which looks a bit similar to a pram chassis. It has a simple one-click mechanism that securely suspends the co-ordinating bassinet, bouncer or highchair. Each of these three can be purchased together or bought separately to spread the cost as your baby requires them. The whole set (frame and three attachments) costs £349.99. To buy just as a bassinet, the frame is £99.99 and the bassinet component is £89.99.

The i’coo Grow With Me 1-2-3 with its various attachments has been designed for use from your baby’s birth up to the age of approximately 3 years. The lightweight bassinet is perfect for your baby’s first few days all the way up to 6 months if needed. The bouncer chair attachment can be used up to 9 months. The highchair can be used until your child is 3, depending on their weight. The frame is also height adjustable. It’s a very versatile product and with its neutral Stone colourway, it’s unisex and modern looking.

I can’t quite believe no one has invented something like this before, as my son Nathaniel, 15 weeks, loved sitting in the bouncer chair. Plus, being on the same level as the rest of the people in the room, he felt more a part of what was going on – especially useful over the holidays when we had lots of visitors.

The i’coo Grow With Me 1-2-3 requires minimal assembly, which is always a bonus as new mums never have enough time in the day for fiddly gadgets or reading a thick instruction manual while their baby cries for attention. As all the attachments are on a tall frame, I found I did a lot less bending and stretching so definitely a plus for new mums.

The bassinet is very light and well padded. It has sides that collapse easily for storage or carrying around. It also comes with a fairly sizeable mattress, which is a big plus. A small pillow is included.

The viewing windows at the sides are great for keeping an eye on your baby when you lie down to catch up on rest yourself.

Nathaniel had already moved on from his own Moses basket when he was 9 weeks old because he was (and is) very tall, but he found it very easy to settle himself in the bassinet and when he shuffled around in his sleep his head didn’t touch the top and wake himself, as he used to, so he slept uninterrupted.

Although the frame comes on wheels, the safety stop (which isn’t mentioned in the instructions) sticks out too far. This means even if you wanted to wheel the frame around with an attachment, before placing your baby in it, you can’t.

The bassinet is quite long and comes with a hardboard base, which makes it fairly cumbersome.

The biggest drawback to the bassinet is that unlike a Moses basket you can’t move it to a different level of your home while your baby is sleeping because it doesn’t have a handle.

Your baby can’t be in any of the attachments when you move it. This is only really a problem with the bassinet, as your baby is most likely to be asleep.

The bassinet comes with a small pillow, but there’s no mention of this in the instructions and no safety warning that a baby shouldn’t have a pillow until they’re 12 months.

Lastly, if you buy the bassinet separately it will set you back £89.99, without the frame. That means it’s three times more expensive than an ordinary Moses basket.

What to watch out for with the i’coo Grow With Me 1-2-3 bouncer

Parents prepared to pay for a sleep-time solution that can add playtime and feeding to its list of tricks as their baby grows.

This is a clever and versatile product, though the system is quite expensive when you look at the bassinet, bouncer and highchair individually. However, if this is the main piece of furniture you buy for your newborn, and you plan to use all three attachments, the i’coo Grow With Me 1-2-3 works out at a very affordable selection of baby kit.
